Heidi Lunabba and Jukka Korkeila

Nosadella.due, Bologna, Italy, October 29, 2008 - February 28, 2009

Studio Vilgefortis is Heidi Lunabbas project, which playing with the overturning of the roles of a man and awoman, setted up around the city a mobile barbershop just for women. Next to a series of really special portrays, a video will show images of all the participants who played with their own identity for one day.

2 Minutes Hunger Strike is a large-scale site specific work that Jukka Korkelia has realized by conversing in a dynamical way with an absolutely discordant habitat. A large painting installation tells about a hostile city, as Bologna has always been, splitted between an apparent persistence to the engagement and a spirit of sacrifice that wouldn't last more than two minutes of a hunger strike.

Both installations are tied to the actual meaning of sexual identity and are settled in a hybrid context such as Le Stanze Café, a historic chapel decorated by original frescoes of the 5th century that is used today for enliven nights, creating a sliding of the perspective where the ancient sacred atmosphere of the place is stirred to a modern male and feminine imaginary.

The exhibition was curated by Anna-Mari Vänskä, organized by Nosadella.due, Bologna and supported by FRAME Finnish Fund for Art Exchange.
