III Moscow International Biennale for Young Art ”Qui vive?”, which will be held in Moscow July-August 2012, opens submission of applications on 8 September and it will run till 15 December on www.youngart.ru. Biennale for Young Art is one of the largest and most ambitious projects realized on the Moscow art scene in the field of contemporary art today. The Biennale brings together artistic initiatives from all over the world. The curator of the Biennale 2012 is Kathrin Becker, curator at the Neuer Berliner Kunstverein (n.b.k.). She works with institutions in Europe, Asia, Russia, United States and Latin America. The theme of the III Moscow International Biennale for Young Art is “Under A Tinsel Sun” . The Biennale, as its forerunners, focuses on a young generation of artists aged up to 35 years. The theme of the Biennale for Young Art 2012 is laid out as a multimedia project; it portrays the heterogeneity of subjects, languages and styles, which are so urgent in this generation. “Under A Tinsel Sun” assumes that, despite the cultural, economic and social differences that may exist between the participants from different countries, there is a common factor in the impossibility of locating oneself by belonging to certain peer groups (whether in the ideological or in the artistic sense). The III Moscow International Biennale for Young Art 2012 explores the works of the young generation of artists and presents drawing, painting, photography, video, performance, mixed media, installation and sound art. The exhibition project promotes the critical examination of the conditions for artistic production today. The founders of the biennale are the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Department of Culture of the City of Moscow, the National Centre for Contemporary Art (NCCA), and the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (MMoMA). This year it is organized in collaboration with the Neuer Berliner Kunstverein (n.b.k.). More information: www.youngart.ru |
