FRAME Finnish Fund for Art Exchange provides services and acts as an expert body in international exchanges relating to the visual arts. FRAME, established in 1992, works within the Finnish Fine Arts Academy Foundation and is primarily funded by the Finnish Ministry of Culture. FRAME awards grants to create opportunities for Finnish visual artists to produce, exhibit and present their work abroad. FRAME also gives support for Finnish artist's participation to international biennials and biennial type events. To promote links between Finland and the international contemporary visual art scene, FRAME works in partnership with international artist-in-residence programs. The aim is to provide Finnish artists residencies, research, production and presentation opportunities abroad. FRAME's curator-in-residence program provides international curators opportunities to research and develop forthcoming exhibitions and publications in Helsinki. FRAME works both on collaborative projects with Finnish or international partners and acts as an independent producer for contemporary visual art projects, exhibitions and publications. FRAME's Visitors' Program gives professionals visiting Finland an opportunity to get acquainted with the contemporary art scene of the country. Under the program dozens of curators, critics, art historians and scientists are invited to Finland annually to do research for upcoming articles, exhibitions and other projects. FRAME gathers and disseminates information about Finnish contemporary art. FRAME introduces Finnish visual artists on it's website. At FRAME office there is a possibility to go through an Artist File including a selection of portfolios and other material of Finnish artists living and working in Finland or internationally. FRAME is the publisher of Framework: The Finnish Art Review, a bi-annual magazine dedicated to contemporary art and culture. Framework is a discursive forum that allows space for varied visual material, as well as extensive articles, analyses and international commentaries. One of its major tasks is to establish Finnish contemporary art on the international scene. |
